Hamilton Watches Resource
Hamilton watches have an interesting history that dates
back to 1892, when the Hamilton Watch Company was first founded
in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The first Hamilton watches
were
produced in
1893, and were carefully crafted and designed by
H.J. Cain, a founding member of the Hamilton Watch Company.
The first line of watches introduced to America were "The
Broadway Limited" and quickly became known as "the watch of
Railroad accuracy." Interestingly enough,
Hamilton watches
were originally manufactured to provide
America's railroads with reliable timing devices.
The Hamilton Watch
Company has always been well in touch
with the American spirit and lifestyle, and clearly
distinguished itself as a leader in watch design when Hamilton
introduced the Hamilton Yankee Watch in 1928, when the Yankees
won the world series. As the 1930's came along, Hamilton
watches
soon became the official timepiece
of the most
famous commercial aviation leaders: TWA, Eastern, United and
Northwest. In an effort to support America during WWII, Hamilton
watches
created an exclusive line of Hamilton military watches,
which were made exclusively for military use during the War.
Hamilton watches
soon became the popular choice among
many American icons in the 1960s. One popular
Hamilton watch
design was the Hamilton Ventura Watch, a watch
which Elvis Presley choose to wear in the hit movie "Blue
Hawaii." Even more important is the fact that Hamilton watches
have been at the forefront of the watch industry. Evidence of
this fact can been seen in numerous Hamilton watch
innovations. Some of the more noteworthy Hamilton watch
technologies include: the development of a revolutionary
temperature-compensating hairspring alloy which results in a
much more improved time-keeping accuracy, the introduction of
the world's first electronic watch in 1952, and the introduction
of the Pulsar, the world's first digital watch.
Hamilton watches
of today are probably most famous for
their uniquely redesigned styles, which go beyond the
traditional circular shape of the norm, and feature such shapes
as the square, asymmetrical, and triangular cases. The
Hamilton watch
company has also became known for producing fashionable, stylish
timepieces for women. Today's line of Hamilton watches
include
the American Classics Collection (uniquely-shaped watches) and
the Khaki collection. New versions of their famous military
watches are also available, as well as incredibly durable
Hamilton sport watches for men and women, which have been
strategically designed to withstand the enormous pressure of
deep-sea diving and provide very precise accuracy and
performance under the most extreme of conditions. Hamilton
watches
are truly performance and precision timepieces and
