Information on Discount Luminox Watches
Luminox Watches
Luminox Watches are the official watches of the U.S. Navy Seals
and U.S. Air Force. This only means one thing: Luminox Watches are
of the highest quality watches available and are made to standards
that are set above any other watch ever made.
Luminox, meaning "light night" in Latin, was selected as the name of
this company and its
watches in order to emphasize the superlative
illumination system utilized in the Luminox watch collection.
When Luminox was originally contacted by a procurement officer for
the U.S. Navy Seals, Luminox, along with the help of Swiss
associates, spent 9 months developing the initial Navy Seal dive
watch that launched in 1994. After selling hundreds of thousands of
the original plastic model, Luminox launched its first steel version
(with carbon fiber bezel) of the SEAL watch in 1999. This Luminox
Watch became an Instant best seller. Naturally, Luminox Watches
continued to develop additions to their incredible line of Luminox
Watches, and soon an all steel and titanium series of Luminox
watches was made available in the fall of 2000.
What does the future of Luminox Watches have in store? More great
innovation and advancement, for one. Presently, Luminox is in
development of an entirely new ultimate Navy SEAL dive watch, as
well as an entire range of aviator Luminox watches as part of the
"Lockheed Collection" that will be tied to specific jets including
the F-117 Nighthawk, the F-16 Viper and Fighting Falcon, the Joint
Strike Fighter, the F-22 Raptor (a supplemental Stealth jet), the
SR-71 Blackbird (record setting jet of the 1960s), and even the
Venture Star (the next Space Shuttle), thus linking Luminox Watches
to NASA!
Luminox Watch Technology
All Luminox watches undergo additional manufacturing
steps that no other watch in the world requires. The Luminox self-powered illumination system must be
installed in each and every watch. It is a costly and
time-consuming endeavor but it is what makes Luminox
watches special and different from all other watches in
the world. It is our raison d'etre. Each watch employs
tiny self-powered micro gas lights developed by the
world leader in the luminous compound industry. These
micro gas lights (borosilicate glass capsules) are
installed into the hands, hour markers, and when
necessary, bezels of Luminox watches. Luminox watches
need no external light source to "charge" the paint on
the dial or hands in order to glow as do conventional
luminous watches. Nor do they require a push of a
button to light the dial as do watches with electro
luminescence. The US military has long recognized the
advantages of micro gas light sources and their use is
specified in procurement specification MIL-W-6374F.
