Timex Watches Resource
Timex watches and the Timex Company have a long history that has
greeted the watch industry with more innovative, best-selling
timepieces than any other company in the world. The Timex watch
Company began its journey in the 1850s, with the introduction of
Waterbury Clock, which made timekeeping affordable for working
class Americans. After almost 100 years of innovation and watch
creation, Timex Watch Company changed gears and devoted all its
efforts to aiding the soldiers of WWII by providing them with
some of the most durable wrist watches ever made. As a result of
all the research and development that went into mass-producing
those durable watches, Timex introduced their famously known
wristwatch, the Timex watch. Not only was this Timex watch one
of the most durable ever made, but it was also one of the most
affordable watches available. If there is one word that can
describe what the Timex watch is all about, it would be
affordable.
Timex watches quickly became known as the watch the "takes a
licking and keeps on ticking." By the 1960s, Timex became a
household name among the citizens of the United States. In
addition, Timex watches eventually dominated the low-priced
market, and Timex was able to upgrade and diversify its product
line. Timex watches now came in the "Cavatina" style, which was
the first Timex Women's brand available. For the price of one
expensive watch, women could easily buy several Timex watches to
match different occasions or outfits.
By the mid-1970s, the newly renamed Timex Corporation had sold
more than 500 million Timex watches. Amazingly, every other
watch that was bought in the United States was a Timex watch,
and the brand retailed in 250,000 different outlets. These
sales, manufacturing, and distribution records have yet to be
duplicated by any other watch manufacturer.
It was in 1986 that Timex introduced the popular Timex
watch,
the "Ironman Triathlan," which became America's best-selling
watch, and also became the world's best selling sports watch, a
distinction it has held throughout the 1990s. Keeping in tune
with the technological times of the present, Timex watches
were
the first watches to feature the "Indiglo" future that is now
seen on almost every digital watch worn today.
With over 7,500 employees located on four different continents,
Timex Watch Corporation clearly knows what they are doing and
have the track record of over 150 years to prove it. Timex
watches are truly performance and precision timepieces and
