The Cartier Tank Chinoise was unveiled in 1922 as a more masculine variant of the initial Tank models. The Tank Chinoise grasped its inspiration from the architectural design of the Chinese temple portals, while maintaining a very similar structure to the 1919 Tank. The visual break between horizontal and vertical lines allows for the case to seem squarer, stronger.
The present platinum example exemplifies the “less is more” ethos, shrouding the legendary Tank Chinoise in a luxurious platinum livery. It is powered by the manual winding caliber 430MC.
